BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- An Inner Mongolian activist who recently finished serving a 15-year jail term for spying but is still the subject of limited political rights is in a "safe, healthy, and well-guaranteed environment," a senior official of north China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region said Tuesday.

Hada is part-way through a four-year penalty period in which some of his political activities are circumscribed, said Tao Jian, vice secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party of China, in response to a journalist's question at the ongoing parliamentary session in Beijing.

Hada was convicted of separatism and spying in 1996. He completed his jail term in December 2010.
