May 1, 2004 is the
57th anniversary of the establishment of Inner
Mongolian Autonomous Region. In order to protest against the
Chinese government’s systematic cultural assimilation,
population transfer, and grassland destruction policies and
colonial regime in Inner Mongolia, members and supporters of
Inner Mongolian People’s Party from Sweden held a demonstration
in front of the Chinese Embassy to Sweden in Stockholm City.
The demonstration
started at noon, and protestors held high the dark-blue flag of
the Inner Mongolian People’s Party and banners of “Free Inner
Mongolia”, “Freedom and Democracy”, and shouted loudly the
slogans of “we want freedom!”, “we want human rights!”, “release
Hada!”
At 3:00 pm,
protestors marched at Downtown Stockholm and joined the May Day
Parade with Uyghur protestors. Among the thousands of
demonstrators who held colorful flags and banners, Inner
Mongolian and Uyghur protestors also held high their own flags
and banners and shouted loudly the slogans of “Free All
Political Prisoners”, “we want independence!”, “return us
freedom!” They condemned the Chinese Communist Party’s heavy
handed ethnic policies and gross human rights violations in the
minority regions of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, and
urged the freedom-loving people around the world to support
anti-CCP struggles of the Inner Mongols, Uyghurs, and Tibetans.
