Members of the Inner Mongolian People’s Party and the Swedish
Mongolian Committee held a demonstration in Stockholm, Sweden,
to mark China’s 58 years occupation of Inner Mongolia, on May 1,
2005. The demonstration started at 1:00 pm local time, and the
protestors held high the Inner Mongolian People’s Party’s flag
and banners of “Free Inner Mongolia”, “Release Hada”, “Return us
our land”, and “Return us our freedom”, to strongly condemn the
Chinese Government’s 58 years colonial regime in Inner Mongolia.
Exiles from Eastern Turkistan also joined the demonstration to
criticize the Chinese government’s heavy handed policy toward
ethnic minorities in China.
On
May 2, in order to urge the
Chinese Government to release Inner Mongolian dissident Mr. Hada
who was sentenced to 15 years in jail for establishing a
peaceful organization called “Southern Mongolian Democratic
Alliance” and is still serving his jail term in Inner Mongolian
No.4 Jail in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, the Swedish Mongolian
Committee collected signatures for a petition letter proposed to
be handed over to Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jia-bao, asking the
Chinese Government to respect basic human rights and fundamental
freedom of the Mongols in Inner Mongolia.
